Obasanjo remains relevant to nations building – Jonathan

Former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has lauded the ex-President and elder statesman Olusegun Obasanjo on his 84th birthday.

In his statement, Jonathan said Obasanjo is still needed and very instrumental in the task of nation-building.

He said Obasanjo’s experience as a retired general is needed “in this period when the peace and stability in many African nations are greatly challenged.”

Jonathan described Obasanjo as a sincere patriot who has sacrificed so much for Nigeria’s development.

Lauding the leadership prowess of Obasanjo, Jonathan said his tenure as head of state and President produced massive landslide achievement that has helped broaden the bond of the country.

“Baba, you are a great African who has contributed so much to the consolidation of laudable regional and sub-regional initiatives on the continent.”

The ECOWAS personnel pray that God would continue to strengthen Obasanjo and lend his wisdom to Nigeria.
