5 best Nigerian songs of the month (February 2021)

Timi-Dakolo-–-Everything-Amen

Nigerian artistes continued their fine start to the new year, continuing to push out nice jams.

January 2021 was a great month and February has not been different either.

There are some new kids on the block, while the ‘veterans’ are keeping pace with quality songs

Here are KemiFilani’s best five for the second month of the year:

Johnny Drille – Bad Dancer: Bad Dancer doesn’t feel like a typical Johnny Drille song. But we love it. In the new song, Drille admits to his lover that he is terrible at dancing but he would love to take her “slow dancing into the starry night” and hold her tightly while he whispers into her ear.

Chike feat Simi – Running (to you): This month, Chike served us the official video for Running (to you). The song features the incomparable Simi and is one of the big favourites from Chiké’s ‘Boo of the Booless’ album. It was directed by Pink for Pinkline Films.

Burna boy – Onyeka: February is the month when Burna Boy began to drop visuals for songs from his ‘Twice as Tall’ album, which was released in 2020. The latest is for ‘Onyeka’. The visuals in “Onyeka” – reportedly shot in Ghana – celebrates intimacy and romantic partnership. The video was directed by DK.

Timi Dakolo – Everything (Amen): Timi Dakolo rarely drops singles, but this month, he dropped “Everything (Amen)”. Dakolo released both audio and visuals together. The soul singer, with the song, offered prayers to God for everyone struggling to make a living. It also offers prophetic declaration and a message of hope.

Ric Hassani – Thunder fire you: Ric Hassani’s Thunder fire you is off his forthcoming album “The Prince I Became“. On this song, he laments about fake love – a love full of lies and deceit. As Ric moves on, he curses his lady lover and her friends with thunder.
